Tariff Impacts

Tariff Impacts

So far in 2025, disruption has been the order of the day. Tariffs threatened, tariffs implemented, some tariffs deferred, others increased, in short, wars and rumors of trade wars. Add to that a fire at the largest aerospace fastener facility in the world.

Tariffs – Current Status Of Aerospace-Relevant Tariffs

  • 25% tariffs on non-USMCA goods from Canada and Mexico remain in effect
  • 25% tariffs on aluminum and steel remain in effect
  • Reciprocal tariffs
    • 10% across the board tariffs remain in effect
    • Country specific tariffs are suspended for 90 days until July 9 except for China
  • Country specific tariffs on all Chinese imports increased to 125% (on top of 20% base tariff)

The situation can change at any time. Trade regulations are complex and the administration has changed them frequently, providing little guidance when making changes. In addition, retaliatory tariffs can also impact aerospace – witness China’s halt on Boeing aircraft deliveries in response to Trump raising tariffs on Chinese goods.
