Last week, IAM 837 machinists voted 68% to 32% to approve Boeing’s fifth contract proposal, ending a strike that lasted for more than three months. Under the terms of the agreement, most workers will get an 8% pay increase in the first year of the agreement and 4% in each subsequent year, raising average base pay from $75,000 to $109,000 per year over the life of the contract. Top-paid employees will get a 1.5% pay increase and a 2.5% lump sum in year four. Machinists also receive a ratification bonus of $6,000. Boeing next faces negotiation with the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace’s (SPEEA) in October 2026 and IAM 839’s (Wichita) in June 2027.
